Job description

About Marshmallow

We build financial products that accelerate the economic freedom for people who move across borders. We started with car insurance - insuring over a million drivers - and we're scaling beyond. Tens of millions of people move countries each year, facing overlooked financial challenges. Our future is in building financial products around their needs to positively impact their lives.

How we work

We're really proud of the culture we've created. We push for progress every day, because we know that we'll only hit big milestones by taking lots of smaller steps. We're always open to helping our team mates, sharing our ideas, experience and knowledge to solve problems together. We take risks, think creatively and experiment relentlessly to meet our customer's needs, and never pass blame when things go wrong. We encourage people at all levels to take ownership of their work, and to be bold in challenging how we do things. Everyone has a voice and the opportunity to make an impact.
And autonomy and ownership are only possible with clear direction. That's why we collaborate to do in-depth planning twice a year, and make sure we leave with clear goals and objectives that flow from top to bottom. To make sure we're as aligned as possible across functions, most of our work rolls up into three tribes; Acquisition, Retention & Claims. Each tribe has multiple teams embedded in it, working cross-functionally to do great work.
We're so excited for all of the challenges up ahead, and we need more people to help us tackle them! If life at Marshmallow sounds like it could be for you, explore our Culture Handbook to find out more.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in analysing complex datasets, generating actionable insights, and driving data-informed decision-making across the organisation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for growth, optimise processes, and enhance the overall customer experience.

Your expertise in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and visualisation will be key in supporting our strategic goals and ensuring we stay ahead in a competitive market.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with product, marketing, engineering, and operations teams to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights.
  • Performance Tracking: Develop and maintain dashboards to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and track the success of various initiatives.
  • Statistical Analysis: Apply advanced statistical techniques to test hypotheses, validate models, and ensure data accuracy.
  • Data Quality: Ensure data integrity and consistency by conducting regular audits and implementing data quality best practices.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Proactivity: Take the initiative to identify new growth opportunities and propose creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Dealing with Ambiguity: Navigate and manage ambiguity effectively, making informed decisions with incomplete information and adapting to changing priorities.

Who you are
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to tackle complex problems and derive meaningful insights from data.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation. Experience with Python for statistical analysis is a plus.
  • Data Visualisation Expertise: Proficient in creating data visualisations that effectively communicate insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and reliability in all analyses and reports.
  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business operations and the ability to translate data insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Initiative & Ownership: Proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and taking ownership of projects from start to finish.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Tools & Platforms: Experience with data analysis and visualisation with Looker, dbt and Snowflake is preferred.
