Job summary

AutoTrader UK is seeking a Senior Data Analyst in a hybrid role across the UK. You will lead analytics within consumer product teams such as Search, Selling, CRM, and Marketing, establish product metrics, and govern measurement frameworks to drive data-informed decisions.

You will mentor analysts, collaborate with engineers, and partner with Design and User Research on experimentation. A strong SQL/Python background and experience with ETL are essential.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in consumer-facing product teams and analytics across the lifecycle.
  • Experience overseeing experimentation programmes informing product decisions.
  • Strong knowledge of Bayesian or Frequentist statistical inference.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools for tracking user behaviour (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Ability to articulate complex analytical solutions to stakeholders.
  • Experience planning and delivering analytical projects in cross-functional environments.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and leading other analysts.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python; knowledge of ETL and data engineering basics.

Job description

Salary: £46,000 - 86,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We are looking for someone with proven experience working within consumer-facing product teams and a strong understanding of the analytical approaches used at different stages of the consumer lifecycle.
  • We need experience overseeing experimentation programmes and practices that inform product or business decisions.
  • A strong understanding of methods for statistical inference, such as Bayesian or Frequentist approaches, and familiarity with predictive analytics techniques is highly beneficial.
  • We are looking for working knowledge of common analytics tools used for tracking and analysing user behaviour, such as Google Analytics or similar platforms.
  • You should be able to articulate complex analytical solutions to stakeholders and influence decisions.
  • We need experience planning and delivering analytical projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Demonstrable experience mentoring and leading other analysts towards collective goals is required.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python, along with knowledge of ETL processes and foundational data engineering principles, is required.
Responsibilities:
  • We will have you play a leading role in one of our consumer product teams, focused on areas such as Search, Selling, CRM, and Marketing.
  • We need you to establish metrics for your product area using appropriate frameworks and ensure governance through robust measurement and monitoring.
  • You will align common definitions with Data Analysts in other teams.
  • You will lead the design of data products and collaborate with engineers on implementation.
  • You will lead the definition and continuous improvement of tracking to ensure reliable measurement of user behaviour and product performance.
  • You will own experimentation programme outputs and partner with Design and User Research during early-stage ideation.
  • You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, challenging and influencing decisions through data-informed recommendations, especially when evaluating product changes and identifying new opportunities for improvement.
  • As a leader in our team, you will be accountable for its success, champion the use of analytics, and support other Data Analysts.
  • You will plan and prioritise the analytical components of projects and ensure clear communication with Analytics leadership and adjacent teams.
  • You will help embed Growth and Product Analytics principles across our analytics community through training, workshops, and robust frameworks that support consistent and scalable analytics practices.
