Job summary

Tesco Technology in Welwyn Garden City is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer for the Cyber Analytics team to shape trusted data products transforming raw security data into insights for threat detection and response.

You will build data pipelines, models and dashboards, mentor juniors, and promote responsible AI governance while collaborating with security and data teams to enable self-serve analytics and effective decision making.

Qualifications

• A strong passion for big data, data modelling and data quality.
• Solid Python/PySpark and SQL skills.
• Experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and orchestration tools (Airflow).
• Experience with Databricks on Azure and automated data quality controls.
• Experience building dashboards with Tableau and data storytelling.
• Version control and CI/CD practices (Git).
• Interest in AI-powered self-serve analytics and natural language interfaces.
• Understanding of responsible AI governance and security controls.
• Ability to coach junior team members and communicate with non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead data integration, transformation pipelines and data quality frameworks across raw, trusted and curated layers.
• Design and manage logical/physical data models to support threat detection and reporting.
• Develop high-quality data pipelines, ensure testability, document clearly and uphold coding standards.
• Implement automation for deployment, testing, monitoring and management of data models and pipelines.
• Support analytics agents and conversational analytics for self-service data exploration.
• Develop dashboards and visualisations that provide clear, actionable insights.
• Collaborate with security, engineering and data teams, translating business needs into data products.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to recruitment and development within the team.
