Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Customer Network Engineer to join our team, focusing on delivering large-scale, complex managed solutions to our customers. In this critical role, you will leverage your expertise to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing network solutions.

We are rapidly expanding our fibre rollout, building on our extensive national network of dark fibre and fixed wireless. We operate at the forefront of full-fibre network technology, innovating with automation, software-defined architecture, and NFV to enhance customer experiences.

Remote working is supported, with at least 3 days per week in Manchester HQ as required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Act as the primary technical authority on customer network implementation projects, ensuring deliverables meet specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
2. Collaborate with project managers, clients, and technical teams.
3. Lead configuration, installation, and deployment of network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, access points).
4. Implement scalable LAN, WLAN, WAN, and security solutions tailored to customer needs.
5. Implement and troubleshoot WAN technologies, including MPLS, SD-WAN, VPNs, and other connectivity solutions.
6. Serve as an escalation point for the Customer Network Provisioning Team, providing expert guidance.
7. Maintain comprehensive network documentation.
8. Participate in project meetings and provide technical updates.
9. Mentor junior network engineers.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by your line manager.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

Essential

1. Proven experience in complex network environments, preferably within MSP or Enterprise settings.
2. Expertise in TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, switching, and security principles.
3. Hands-on experience with Fortinet Fortigate firewalls, SD-WAN, and SASE.
4. Strong knowledge of WAN technologies like SD-WAN, MPLS, VPNs.
5. Experience with Juniper Mist wireless and wired solutions.
6. Proven ability to deliver network projects from conception to deployment.
7. Ability to produce clear technical documentation.
8. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
9. Excellent communication skills.
10. Ability to work independently and in teams.
11. Strong organizational skills.

Desired

1. Certifications such as JNCIP, FCP/FCX, CCNP, Juniper Mist.
2. Degree in networking, science, engineering, or related field.
3. Proficiency in scripting (Python, Ansible).
4. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
5. Knowledge of security concepts (NAC, IDS/IPS, SIEM, ZTNA).
6. ITIL certification or knowledge.
7. Experience with network monitoring platforms.
