Job summary

Morson Edge is seeking a Senior CS&A Engineer to lead civil and structural design, verification and delivery across the full project lifecycle. The role is hybrid, based from Whitehaven or Warrington, offering a challenging environment within safety-critical projects.

You will mentor junior engineers, liaise with clients and regulators, and produce high-quality technical reports and design substantiation to meet nuclear and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Chartered or near-Chartered status with a relevant professional body.
• Strong civil and structural engineering principles and design experience.
• Experience producing and checking high-quality technical deliverables.
• Experience with finite element modelling (FEA/FEM) tools and post-processing.
• Understanding of validation and verification for modelling tools.

Responsibilities

• Leading development of civil and structural engineering designs and solutions
• Preparing and verifying technical documentation, specifications and design justifications
• Producing and checking Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs), SDMSs and DSRs
• Preparing and reviewing calculations, analysis reports, Basis of Design documents and material specs
• Ensuring designs comply with standards, regulatory, nuclear safety and quality requirements
• Managing and checking deliverables produced by junior engineers
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
• Liaising with clients, regulators and multidisciplinary project stakeholders
• Supporting project planning, cost estimating and risk management activities
• Producing clear, high-quality technical reports and engineering documentation

Senior CS&A Engineer - Civil & Structural

Locations: Whitehaven or Warrington

Contract: 12-month rolling contract

Working pattern: Hybrid

IR35: Inside IR35

Pay: Competitive hourly Umbrella rates

Clearance: BPSS clearance required prior to starting

Due to continued growth, we are seeking experienced Senior CS&A Engineers to strengthen our Civil and Structural capability and support the delivery of complex, safety-critical engineering projects.

These are 12-month rolling contract opportunities, offering hybrid working from either Westlakes, Whitehaven or Warrington.

The Role

As a Senior CS&A Engineer, you will take a leading role in the development, verification and delivery of civil and structural engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the development of civil and structural engineering designs and solutions
• Preparing and verifying technical documentation, specifications and design justifications
• Producing and checking Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs), Structural Design Method Statements (SDMSs) and Design Substantiation Reports (DSRs)
• Preparing and reviewing calculations, analysis reports, Basis of Design documents, material specifications, CDM documentation and technical reports
• Ensuring engineering designs comply with relevant standards, regulatory requirements, nuclear safety and quality requirements
• Managing and checking deliverables produced by junior engineers
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
• Liaising with clients, regulators and multidisciplinary project stakeholders
• Supporting project planning, cost estimating and risk management activities
• Producing clear, high-quality technical reports and engineering documentation

About You

We are looking for experienced Civil/Structural Engineers with:

• Chartered or near-Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional body
• Strong civil and structural engineering principles and design experience
• Experience producing and checking high-quality technical deliverables
• Experience with finite element modelling (FEA/FEM) software and associated post-processing tools
• Understanding of validation and verification requirements for engineering modelling tools and outputs
• Knowledge of relevant engineering standards, guidelines and regulatory requirements
• Good understanding of health and safety legislation and CDM
• Understanding of design tools within a BIM environment
• Ability to solve and communicate complex engineering problems clearly
• Strong nuclear or similar highly regulated industry experience
