The purpose of the role is to analyse, assess and review applications for credit facilities with the overall aim of mitigating credit risk and reducing credit-related losses for Leumi UK (LUK), including Leumi ABL.

The key responsibilities and accountabilities of the role are:

To undertake an independent analysis of credit applications submitted by the various business desks of both LUK and Leumi ABL.
To provide a written credit advice and where required, present the conclusions of that advice to the relevant sanctioning body.
To represent the views of the Credit Department to Credit Committees at both management and Board level, in relation to specific customer files.
To assist the Front Office with facility structures where required, with a specific remit of reducing credit risk.
To provide feedback to the Front Office in regard to the quality of credit applications with a view to improving future applications.
To assist in managing the integrity of the Bank’s credit grading system and to validate the measurement of credit risk with a view to determining the quality of the risk book.
To create and process Credit Committee meeting minutes, in rotation, at both management and Board level as required.
To provide ongoing mentoring to junior members of the Credit department in respect of credit analysis, as directed by the Head of Credit.

The ideal candidate will have:

Credit analysis/management experience, obtained from within a UK financial institution, to include underwriting experience gained across an economic downturn.
Sound knowledge of credit portfolio management.
In-depth knowledge of UK Real Estate, Commercial and mid-Corporate financing.
A good, working knowledge of UK loan and security documentation.
Strong communication skills. The jobholder must be able to say “no” and be able to justify decisions to senior management.
An ability to be flexible in terms of workload prioritisation to support business goals.
Strong, diligent work ethic, with an attention to detail.
A firm grasp of the written English language.

Whilst not essential, the ideal candidate will have knowledge of IFRS9 accounting standards, gained from within a UK financial institution.
