AstraZeneca in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior Counsel to act as the trusted legal partner to Oncology and Biopharmaceuticals leaders, guiding NHS collaborations and responsible deployment of digital, data and AI solutions. You will mentor on AI projects and serve as Deputy Data Protection Officer, leading UK commercial and privacy initiatives.

As a pragmatic, fast-moving lawyer, you will draft and negotiate complex contracts, develop governance frameworks, and align operations with UK/EU

Qualificações

• Experience as a lawyer in a corporate organisation or law firm with ethics and integrity.
• Knowledge of the laws, regulations and compliance requirements in the drug development sector.
• Expertise in data protection, privacy impact assessments (DPIA) and cross-functional privacy governance.
• Knowledge of AI laws and regulations, including GDPR, EU AI Act, data privacy frameworks, and emerging global AI standards.
• Experience creating, drafting and implementing policies and processes.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Experience leading senior partners across functions.
• Excellent English communication and collaboration skills, with senior executives.
• Commitment to continuous learning of fast-evolving laws relevant to pharma.

Responsabilidades

• Lead lawyer for assigned UK Business Unit and franchises; provide strategic legal advice and support NHS collaborations.
• Advise on commercialisation of pharmaceutical products in the UK with NHS and healthcare partnerships; focus on digital, data and AI-enabled solutions.
• Lead legal support for AI initiatives; draft AI-related agreements; develop AI governance and privacy guardrails.
• Draft, review, negotiate and finalise a wide range of contracts, policies and legal documents.
• Monitor UK/EU AI, data and privacy developments; assess risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance and stakeholders to deliver seamless support; manage external providers.
• Lead UKMC legal projects; work with the Legal Director and business partners.
• Drive improvements to contracting processes and provide training to embed adoption.
