Job summary

AECOM Birmingham is seeking a Senior Cost Manager to lead cost management across the full project lifecycle within the Cost Management team. You will mentor junior staff and drive cost insights for projects in Commercial, Industrial, Logistics, Residential and Education sectors.

You will manage client relationships, deliver robust cost plans, and ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery while using digital measurement and cost planning tools.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified - BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying/Cost Management.
• Chartered Status with the RICS.
• Proven experience in Cost Management across the full project lifecycle.
• Ability to advise clients and design teams on cost, value and risk.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from inception to completion with a cost management focus.
• Produce cost estimates, cost plans, procurement and tendering advice.
• Oversee post-contract delivery of valuations, change control, reporting and final accounts.

Our Birmingham Cost Management team continues to grow, with specific growth demand within the Commercial, Industrial and Logistics, Residential and Education markets where we have successfully secured positions with many high-profile clients and some key local projects and programs in the industry. As a direct result of this growth, we are currently seeking an Senior Cost Manager to join our Birmingham team. You will be expected to work as part of an integrated team, with the role of Senior Cost Manager covering the whole project lifecycle from initial inception and business case development, through the design process, procurement process, site delivery, commissioning phase and defects management. Here's what you'll do:

• Provide effective support, mentoring and line management to Project Surveyors / Cost Managers, Graduates and Apprentices.
• Leading projects from a Cost Management perspective from inception to completion.
• Production of cost estimates, cost plans, procurement and tendering advice, through to post-contract delivery of valuations, change control, reporting and final account.
• Taking responsibility for the delivery of projects and managing support teams.
• Ensures commissions are managed and completed efficiently, on time and to the client's satisfaction.
• Develops strong reciprocal relationships with clients and members of the project team.
• Be an interface with AECOM clients (new and existing).

• Degree Qualified - BSc or MSc - in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management.
• Professional Qualified - Chartered Status with the RICS.
• Proven experience in Cost Management providing a full spectrum of deliverables throughout projects.
• Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on cost, value and risk, not just cost in isolation.
• Excellent IT Skills and the ability to utilise digital measurement, cost planning and tender documentation tools shall be essential.
• Experience of project types/sizes/sectors within our active sectors in the UK - i.e. Commercial, Industrial and Logistics, Residential, Higher Education and Mixed Use.
