Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cost Controller (Senior Project Controls Engineer Grade) to join our expanding Infrastructure-Defence team in Bristol and the South West.

This role involves Controls & Performance duties on high-profile Infrastructure Projects/Programmes. It offers opportunities to innovate, collaborate, and learn from our experienced Cost Control community.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project delivery teams or independently with support from experienced professionals, including tailoring Cost Control approaches to meet client needs.
• Promote the benefits of Cost Control within project teams.
• Implement and maintain cost control systems to track budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
• Develop project Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) aligned with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
• Map and integrate cost estimates to the WBS, setting budgets against Work Packages, Planning Packages, and Control Accounts.
• Build relationships with Finance, Commercial, and Project Managers to ensure aligned project information.
• Lead accruals to reflect actual work performed accurately and timely.
• Develop reporting tools and generate regular Cost reports, including earned value analysis.
• Provide cost insights to support project status reports and performance decisions.
• Train and mentor team members and clients on cost control practices.

Qualifications

Essential:

• Proven experience in Cost Control.
• Knowledge of cost performance reporting and forecasting techniques.
• Experience leading Cost Control Assurance activities.
• Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM), progress, forecasting, and performance reporting.
• Practical skills in MS Excel and other MS applications.
• Desirable: familiarity with a Cost Control tool, interaction with other Project Controls aspects, NEC contracts.
• Willingness to travel across the region.

Work Arrangements

We support hybrid working to balance work and home life. Expected site/office presence is around 60%, with flexibility depending on project needs.
