Job summary

LJ Recruitment is seeking an experienced Corporate & CRE Underwriter to join our Credit team in West London. You will assess, underwrite and manage a range of lending proposals across corporate, CRE, buy-to-let and personal lending.

You will work with the Business and Originations teams, senior management and external advisers to ensure lending decisions are robust, compliant with policy and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' experience in underwriting, credit assessment or a similar lending role.
• Experience underwriting Corporate and/or CRE lending.
• Good knowledge of the UK lending environment.
• Strong understanding of the UK regulatory framework relevant to lending.
• Excellent analytical and credit assessment skills.
• Ability to articulate recommendations to senior stakeholders and committees.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite Corporate, CRE, BTL and personal loan proposals.
• Assess and present recommendations to Sanctioning Committee.
• Work with Originations to establish rationale for approvals or declines.
• Monitor loan portfolio for arrears and risks; suggest actions.
• Lead annual reviews ensuring covenants are met.
• Minimise credit risk within policy and risk appetite.
• Undertake site visits when required.
• Present to Risk Committee and UK management committees.
• Liaise with solicitors and valuation firms to enable end-to-end credit process.
• Ensure decisions comply with regulatory standards including TCF and Customer First.
