Job description

Our Telco Partner is seeking a UK-qualified lawyer with experience in in-house or private practice to join their expanding legal team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in compliance, corporate governance, commercial contracts, and/or corporate M&A.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Manage corporate governance and compliance within the UK business.
2. Provide commercial and corporate legal advice based on business needs.
3. Work on corporate M&A and competition work as opportunities arise.
4. Report to the Director of Legal and collaborate with the UK Strategy & Regulatory team and global compliance teams.
5. Lead UK initiatives on corporate crime prevention, data privacy, Electronic Communications Code registration, and Telecommunications Security Act compliance.
6. Manage and develop a paralegal supporting corporate governance & compliance activities.
7. Maintain and update UK compliance policies regularly.
8. Build external networks within the industry.
9. Oversee corporate governance for UK entities, including documentation and local procedures.
10. Coordinate with Group Treasury and Tax for financial controls and updates.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Qualified lawyer in England & Wales.
2. 10+ years PQE.
3. Proactive, independent worker experienced with diverse teams and senior management.
4. Knowledge of UK legal & compliance matters, especially data protection and security.
5. Interest and experience in company secretarial and corporate governance activities.
6. Desirable: experience in commercial contracts, corporate M&A, and competition law.
