Job summary

Greenray Turbine Solutions Limited is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead control system retrofit and upgrade projects for gas turbines. You will provide specialist engineering across tendering, design, programming, manufacture, testing and commissioning to ensure quality, cost and on-time delivery.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Projects, Field Service and Aftersales, define FAT/SAT procedures, support site commissioning, mentor engineers, and contribute to business development

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/ Electronic/ Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years’ experience with PLC-based control systems across multiple platforms.
• Experience with gas turbine control and fuel systems essential.
• Commissioning and site installation experience essential.
• Offshore Safety Survival Certificate desirable (training provided).

Role SummaryThe Senior Controls Engineer will play a key role in the delivery and execution of Greenray’s control system retrofit and upgrade projects.This position provides specialist engineering expertise across tendering, design, programming, manufacture, testing, and commissioning of gas turbine control systems, with responsibility for ensuring that all solutions meet customer expectations and company requirements in relation to Quality, Cost, and On-Time Delivery.The role contributes to the development of Greenray’s controls capability, supporting business growth and continuous improvement, while upholding company values of Integrity, Collaboration, Customer Focus, Innovation, and Excellence.Key Responsibilities and TasksAll job holders need to demonstrate, understand and implement the company values within their roles. PeopleTeamwork & Communication:Review customer tender invitations and provide input to Greenray’s tender submissions and technical clarifications.Work collaboratively across Engineering, Projects, Field Service, and Aftersales teams to deliver integrated control system solutions.Provide technical leadership and support for detailed control system design, PLC programming, and hardware manufacture.Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.Support the development and mentoring of other engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and technical excellence.Contribute to Greenray’s business development activities through technical support to the Sales team and participation in customer visits.Represent the Controls Engineering function in meetings, reviews, and supplier evaluations, demonstrating professionalism and clear communication.Safety & Sustainability:Ensure that all control system activities comply with relevant engineering, safety, and environmental standards.Support safe systems of work during testing, installation, and commissioning, promoting Greenray’s QHSE values.Participate in risk assessments and implement mitigations for technical and operational hazards.Encourage sustainable design practices that improve system reliability and reduce lifecycle environmental impact.Conduct or support supplier and site visits to ensure safe and compliant working practices.Accountability:Take ownership of allocated control system projects, ensuring delivery to time, cost, and quality requirements.Compile functional, software, hardware, networking, and interface design specifications.Define FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) procedures with internal and external suppliers, providing technical assistance and witnessing as required.Support installation and commissioning activities, including occasional site visits to resolve technical issues.Provide office-based customer support for post-sales issues and controls-related troubleshooting.Review equipment and software suppliers to assess technical capability and suitability.Ensure that project documentation, drawings, and software are delivered accurately and in accordance with company standards.Provide technical input for pricing, project claims, and control system product development.Quality & Reliability:Ensure all control system designs meet engineering and quality standards.Review supplier quality documentation and FAT/SAT results to confirm compliance.Support Engineering and Quality teams in resolving non-conformances and implementing corrective and preventive actions.Contribute to continuous improvement by developing Greenray’s controls philosophy and technical design standards.Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of PLC technologies and modern control system architectures relevant to gas turbines.Promote a right-first-time approach to design, testing, and commissioning.Excellence in Delivery:Deliver engineered control system solutions that achieve high performance and reliability.Support the full lifecycle of control system projects, from concept to commissioning and through-life support.Provide timely and professional responses to customer queries and post-sales support requests.Ensure documentation and project deliverables are accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule.Conduct or support customer training sessions for control system operation and maintenance.Drive a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the Controls Engineering discipline.Required SkillsEducation (qualifications & training)Degree-level education in Electrical, Electronic, Control, or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent experience).Minimum 5 years’ experience with PLC-based control systems, preferably across multiple platforms.Proven experience with gas turbine control and fuel systems (essential).Commissioning and site installation experience essential.Offshore Safety Survival Certificate desirable (training will be provided if required).Skills (capabilities & qualities)Strong engineering focus with a track record of innovation and project delivery.Technically confident with the ability to work independently and make sound engineering judgements.Excellent communication and customer relationship skills at all levels.Commercially aware, understanding both engineering and financial aspects of project delivery.Highly organised, detail-oriented, and quality-focused.Logical thinker with a proactive, “completer-finisher” approach.Flexible and adaptable, capable of supporting both office-based and site activities.Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and alignment with Greenray’s values.
