Job summary
Dematic is seeking an experienced Controls Cost Engineer to estimate costs for controls-related activities on automated material handling projects. You will work with Engineering and Suppliers to deliver accurate costings for parts, labour, and hours, and conduct site surveys to align Sales and Engineering.
Key responsibilities include planning technical scopes, site visits, and contributing to continuous improvement of procedures.
Qualifications
- HNC or HND in electrical engineering or related field.
- Proven experience as a Controls Engineer in automated material handling or similar industries.
- Experience in estimating costs for projects is useful but not essential.
- Working knowledge of Siemens STEP 7 advantageous; PLC programming on other platforms welcome.
- Strong communication and collaboration across multi-disciplined teams.
Responsibilities
- Plan project approaches and define technical scopes to meet customer and safety requirements.
- Work with live site constraints to minimize disruptions.
- Engage with Engineering and Sales teams; occasionally interact with customers.
- Provide provisional project schedules for Sales use in offers.
- Conduct site visits to inspect/audit relevant areas.
- Attend Technical Reviews for projects.
- Help develop and maintain departmental procedures and standards.
