Job summary

Searchandselect represents a public sector client seeking a Controls Assurance Manager - Policy & Risk to strengthen governance, risk management and internal control practices across the Authority.

The role focuses on designing and implementing a robust control testing framework aligned with ERAS and ERM, delivering timely insights to senior governance bodies and coaching staff in best-practice controls and assurance.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in internal audit, risk, governance or accounting.
• Experience in risk, controls, assurance or audit in regulated environments.
• Strong communication (oral and written) and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a risk-based control testing programme.
• Provide guidance on the control environment and risk impact.
• Apply proportionate testing prioritising significant risks.
• Develop governance via Operational Control Self-Assessments.
• Monitor and report on internal control effectiveness and residual risk.
• Present findings to Senior Steering Group and Risk & Control Committee.
• Coach colleagues in governance, risk management and controls.
• Develop framework to assess design and operation of controls.
• Maintain evidence of control effectiveness and residual risk.
• Support other Policy & Risk Division projects.
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed.
