Job summary

Nexos Group in Sheffield is seeking a Senior Control Systems & SCADA Engineer to design and integrate highly resilient automation and SCADA solutions for critical infrastructure projects, including microgrids, BESS, and renewables.

You will develop FDS and control philosophies, design high-availability PLC/SCADA using Beckhoff TwinCAT, integrate generators and energy assets, and deliver secure architectures using Modbus, IEC 61850, DNP3, OPC UA.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electrical, Automation, Control Systems, or Electronic Engineering.
• 7+ years' experience in industrial control systems engineering.
• Strong expertise in PLC, SCADA, microgrid controls, and critical power applications.
• Proven experience with Beckhoff platforms and industrial communications.
• Knowledge of high-availability architectures, OT cybersecurity, and hybrid energy systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and control philosophies for advanced microgrid systems.
• Design and program high-availability PLC and SCADA solutions, including Beckhoff TwinCAT platforms.
• Integrate generators, renewable energy assets, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Deliver secure, interoperable control architectures using industrial protocols such as Modbus, IEC 61850, DNP3, and OPC UA.
• Support the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through commissioning and handover.
