Job summary

University Hospitals Of Leicester NHS Trust seeks a Consultant in General and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Medicine with a focus on adult ICU care. The post targets individuals with CCT/CESR or dual training, ready to lead services and participate in teaching, audit, and service development.

The successful candidate will supervise junior staff, engage in teaching and research, and contribute to a robust critical care program at the Glenfield site.

Qualifications

• MB BS or equivalent and full GMC registration.
• FFICM or equivalent with specialist registrar eligibility.
• Completion of advanced ICM training or equivalent.
• Eligible for entry/registered on GMC specialist register within 6 months of interview.

Responsibilities

• Provide daytime and on-call consultant cover for the ICU (Glenfield site).
• Supervise and train junior medical staff and allied health professionals.
• Participate in teaching, audit, and CPD activities; contribute to governance.
• Develop the Adult Critical Care Service with colleagues and support patient safety.
• Involve in TOE/echocardiography teaching and multidisciplinary ward rounds.
• Manage academic and service developments in collaboration with CMG and GPs.
