Allianz Commercial is seeking a Senior New Business Construction Underwriter in the UK to join our expert-led team in delivering profitable growth. The role is hybrid, based in Birmingham or Bristol with 2-3 days in the office and regular broker engagement.

You will underwrite construction risks, price according to our appetite, and collaborate across Claims, Operations and Risk teams to secure sustainable business. A strong focus on growth, risk assessment, and broker relationships is essential.

Qualifications

• Underwrite construction risks across new business to meet growth and profitability targets.
• Assess and price risk in line with Allianz appetite and underwriting strategy.
• Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships through regular engagement.
• Negotiate terms, conditions and pricing with brokers to secure sustainable business.
• Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities within the market.
• Contribute to regional underwriting strategy and key business initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and guidance to colleagues on lower license levels, signing off referrals and working on quality assurance.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Claims, Operations and Risk teams.
• Represent Allianz positively in the market, attending broker and client meetings.
• Demonstrate extensive experience in construction underwriting, including casualty/liability covers.
• Underwrite new business effectively with strong analytical capabilities.
• Communicate confidently with brokers and negotiate outcomes to drive profitable growth.
