Job summary

ScottishPower is recruiting three Senior Construction Managers across West/Central/South regions. Roles are based at Cambuslang or Edinburgh Park with regular travel to sites spanning Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire, Dumfries & Galloway, Borders, Central Belt, Edinburgh and Fife.

You will lead a Construction Unit, coach teams, and drive pre-construction activity, with focus on safety, budget and programme delivery for large-scale transmission projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Construction or Engineering.
  • Professional membership (or working towards) CIOB/ICE or similar.
  • SMSTS (or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a Construction Unit, overseeing planning, coordination and delivery of multiple construction projects.
  • Provide direct line management to Construction Managers and develop capability and succession.
  • Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of works within programme, budget and quality expectations.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, Commercial and HSQE for end-to-end delivery.
  • Maintain oversight of contractor performance, relationships and stakeholder interfaces.

From large‑scale network developments to future‑focused expansion, the projects you’ll be involved in will play a critical role in enabling a cleaner, greener energy system, supporting the UK’s transition to net zero and strengthening energy security.As a Senior Construction Manager , you’ll lead a Construction Unit responsible for delivering complex transmission infrastructure projects, combining strong leadership with excellent construction delivery and pre‑construction capability. Based out of our Cambuslang or Edinburgh Park office, with regular travel to sites, this is a highly visible leadership role with real influence over how major transmission projects are planned, built and delivered.What you’ll be doingLead and manage a Construction Unit , overseeing the planning, coordination and delivery of multiple construction projects.Provide direct line management to a team of Construction Managers, with responsibility for coaching, performance, capability development and succession planning, whilst also providing leadership and oversight to indirect Construction Department team members, including Trainees.Ensure the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of works in line with programme, budget and quality expectations.Play an active role in pre‑construction activity, including constructability input, programme planning, contractor engagement and risk mitigation.Work collaboratively with Project Management, Engineering, Commercial and HSQE teams to ensure seamless end to end delivery.Maintain strong oversight of contractor performance, supply chain relationships and stakeholder interfaces.Champion health, safety, environmental and quality standards across all site activities.What you’ll bringProven senior construction leadership experience, managing teams within a complex delivery environment.Strong track record in construction delivery, alongside demonstrable involvement in pre‑construction and development phases.Experience delivering projects within electricity transmission, power, or large‑scale infrastructure, or transferable sectors such as civils, rail or major regulated infrastructure.Confident people leader with the ability to motivate teams, manage performance and drive a positive safety culture.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across multi‑disciplinary teams.Sound commercial awareness, with experience managing contractors and controlling cost, risk and programme.Qualifications & RequirementsDegree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant Construction or Engineering discipline.Professional membership (or working towards) with a recognised body such as CIOB, ICE or similar.SMSTS (or equivalent).Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to sites.What’s in it for youAs well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy several other benefits.
