Job summary

Vulcain Engineering UK seeks an experienced Construction Manager to lead safe planning, coordination and delivery of demolition and civil works in a highly regulated environment at Culham. You will act as the client’s site-based representative, managing interfaces, contractor performance and project assurance from pre-construction through handover.

This 12-month fixed-term contract offers exposure to nuclear sector projects, with emphasis on health and safety, regulatory compliance, and

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering complex construction, demolition, decommissioning or brownfield projects.
• Strong understanding of construction health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Proven experience managing contractors and multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Track record of delivering projects safely, on schedule and within budget.
• Experience in construction assurance, site inspections, change management and project reporting.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
• Experience in nuclear, energy, infrastructure or highly regulated environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead demolition and construction activities from planning through to handover.
• Act as primary interface between project teams, designers, contractors, site operations and stakeholders.
• Manage scope, programme, risks, interfaces and delivery milestones.
• Oversee demolition, decommissioning and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate site logistics, lifting operations, access arrangements and planning.
• Review contractor documentation and work plans for risk mitigation.
• Lead construction coordination meetings and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct site inspections and provide safety, quality and governance leadership.
