Job summary

GSK is seeking a Sr. Compute Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate a hybrid on-prem/cloud compute platform. You will drive scalable batch computing, CI/CD deployments, and robust tooling for science teams, ensuring performance and reliability across distributed systems.

You’ll mentor junior engineers, contribute to code quality and documentation, and collaborate with DevOps and data platforms to optimize workflows and observability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in data engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience with Python and cloud technologies.
• Experience with High Performance Compute (HPC).
• Demonstrated excellence with agile software development environments using tools like Jira and Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and operates tools, services, workflows delivering high value to business problems.
• Develops a hybrid on-prem/cloud compute platform for interactive and scalable batch computing.
• Implements CI/CD driven deployments and container/image builds.
• Consults science users on application scalability and performance in distributed computing environments.
• Optimizes design and execution of complex solutions in large-scale systems.
• Produces well-engineered software with automated tests and operational planning.
• Ensures consistent platform abstractions for logging and lineage.
• Participates in code reviews and improves team standards.
• Guides improvements to CI/CD practices and related workflows.
