Job summary

TXM Recruit, in partnership with a leading defence organisation, seeks a Senior Composites Manufacturing Engineer in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. You will support prototype builds, scale into production, develop manufacturing methods, and drive cost reductions through Lean and Six Sigma.

You’ll coordinate with engineering, operations and programme teams to deliver right-first-time quality across the full product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge of composites processing including winding, layup and resin infusion.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
• CAD experience producing 2D drawings
• Sound understanding of MRP systems, with BOMs and routings in SAP or similar ERP
• Evidence of delivering process improvements and collaborative working

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering advice and resolve manufacturing issues across development and production.
• Support prototype builds and the transition of new products into production.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing methods, build documentation and production requirements.
• Apply composites processing expertise across winding, layup, resin infusion, assembly and bonding.
• Identify opportunities to improve yield, reduce waste and lower costs.
• Support creation and maintenance of bills of materials and manufacturing routings.
• Use Lean, Six Sigma and other improvement tools to strengthen quality and performance.
• Coordinate engineering activities to support programme milestones and production delivery.
