Job summary

Maldon District Council, in partnership with Essex Shared Services, is seeking a Communications Officer for a full-time, hybrid role requiring two days in the office weekly. You will deliver clear communications, support engagement activities, handle press enquiries, and manage marketing work to deadlines across diverse channels.

Qualifications

• A-level or NVQ Level 3, or equivalent experience in communications/engagement.
• Experience producing clear, engaging content for various audiences and channels.
• Experience supporting campaigns, events, promotions or customer/partner engagement.
• Knowledge of digital communications, accessibility and data protection requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organisation and collaborative working skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Confidence using Microsoft 365 and digital communications platforms.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clear, accurate and accessible communications supporting council services and priorities.
• Support engagement, campaigns, events and promotional activity across channels.
• Handle press and communications inquiries promptly and in line with standards.
• Manage allocated communications and marketing work to priorities and deadlines.
