The Opportunity Hub UK Ltd is seeking a mid-level Communications Director to shape the future of PR and Communications in Birmingham. You will lead external and internal communications, build strong media relationships, and manage crisis situations while guiding a small team.

With salary ranging from £45,500 to £68,500, the role includes a bonus scheme, private medical insurance, pension contributions, and a hybrid work model between the Birmingham office and home.

Qualifications

• Several years' experience in a senior PR & Communications role, ideally with agency or in-house leadership exposure.
• Strong media contacts and a track record of securing meaningful coverage.
• Sharp writing skills with ability to turn a complex update into something journalists will read.
• Calm under pressure. Crisis comms is part of the job, not an exception to it.
• Line management experience, with the ability to coach a team rather than just direct one.
• Commercial awareness. You understand how communications ties back to business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the organisation's external and internal communications strategy, end to end
• Build and manage relationships with journalists, trade press and key industry stakeholders across the Birmingham region and beyond
• Oversee crisis communications and reputation management when things go wrong, and before they do
• Write and approve press releases, executive messaging and thought leadership content
• Manage a small team of PR and communications specialists, setting direction and reviewing output
• Report on communications performance to senior leadership, with recommendations that actually get acted on
