NAVAL SHIP ENGINEERING EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONALS

Job Title: Senior Commissioning Engineer – Electrical

Location: Scotstoun, Glasgow

Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on qualifications and experience

What you’ll be doing:
  • Setting to work of electrical marine systems and equipment across the whole ship platform, including Power and Propulsion, HVAC and Hotel, Fixed Fire Fighting, LV Distribution, Ships Control Systems, and all electrical and controls aspects of marine systems.
  • Acting as an Electrical Authorised Person responsible for safe systems of work for ships' electrical systems, including isolations, permits, and safe progressive energisation of systems.
  • Carrying out audits and inspections of electrical ship systems for handover to Commissioning, liaising with ship Operations and Design teams.
  • Writing technical documentation to support set to work and trials, such as test forms, minor trials documentation, sea trials serials, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinating equipment manufacturers' representatives, clients, and acceptance bodies to demonstrate acceptance of ships systems.
  • Using and analysing technical drawings and manuals to fault find ships systems, liaising with design teams to resolve issues.
  • Defining the scope of handover for ships' electrical systems and testing requirements to align with overall programme needs.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
  • HNC qualified in a technology, engineering, or science-related discipline or extensive experience in commissioning role.
  • Experience in Marine engineering or similar industries.
  • Good technical understanding of electrical systems operation and design.
  • Good people skills and ability to work, coach, mentor within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to gain a Seafarers Medical Certificate.
Desirable:
  • HND or Degree in relevant engineering background with professional registration.
  • Engineering Officer of the Watch qualification through Merchant or Royal Navy.
  • Experience with electrical marine systems.
  • Academic or professional qualifications to become recognized as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers.

The Commissioning Engineering team:

Join a large, growing team reporting to the Senior Commissioning Team Lead. Collaborate with global stakeholders, participate in Equipment Acceptance events, and develop your marine engineering skills through internal and external training.
