Job summary

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Commissioning and Contracts Manager to support the South London Partnership Complex Care Programme. The role focuses on strategic commissioning, robust contract management and provider oversight across boroughs, ensuring high-quality, outcome-focused services for people with complex mental health needs.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior experience in commissioning and contract management within health or social care.
• Ability to lead complex contracting activity, including negotiations, variations and renewals.
• Strong governance, assurance and risk management across multi-agency providers.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior commissioning and contract management leadership across SLP Provider Collaboratives and Complex Care.
• Lead development, negotiation, implementation, variation and management of complex contracts.
• Ensure service specifications, KPIs and quality requirements reflect commissioning priorities.
• Oversee provider performance using quality, activity, finance and outcomes data to ensure value for money.
• Identify risks and underperformance with escalation and remedial action as needed.
• Drive procurement, service redesign and mobilisation of new services and pathways.
• Develop commissioning strategies and support implementation of new care models.
• Collaborate with NHS Trusts, ICBs and local authorities to provide assurance to governance forums.
• Prepare and present reports to senior programme boards and governance groups.
• Promote patient safety, equality and improved service-user outcomes.
• Provide leadership to the Commissioning & Contracts team and deputise for the Head as required.
