About the role:

NFU Mutual’s Large Corporate Insurance Department manage our largest and most complex corporate risks, with premiums over £100k. They oversee £200 million in GWPI, underwriting Property and Liability risks to drive sustainable, long-term profitable growth and we’re pleased to share this exciting new opportunity as an Underwriter.

In this role, you will manage a portfolio of existing clients and quotations, serving as the lead underwriter. You will review and evaluate insurance risks, proposing and negotiating policy terms for corporate business in line with NFU Mutual's underwriting principles and standards.

Your work will ensure fair outcomes and exceptional customer service, aligned with the company’s risk appetite and financial goals. You will build and maintain strong relationships with team members, agents, brokers, and clients, ensuring objectives are met and service levels are maintained.

You’ll train, coach, mentor and guide team members and provide technical support to various stakeholders across the business and support Change to shape the department and it’s processes, looking to continuously improve the efficiency of our operations. You’ll also be responsible for delivering short-term and one off projects and activities. Additionally, you will handle policy cancellations, resolve complaints, and provide agents and brokers with support during client meetings to enhance customer value and uphold NFU Mutual’s reputation.

About you:

You’ll be a Commercial Underwriting professional with extensive underwriting experience in Commercial Property or Liability risks gained within the UK general insurance market. This could be from an insurer or broker environment.

You’ll be a resilient individual and able to demonstrate effective communication skills which will enable you to establish strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business, with the ability and confidence to challenge and influence where necessary. To join our team, you’ll also have:

• Experience of coaching, mentoring and training colleagues
• Confident Communicator with experience of leading and influencing risk decisions
• The ability to make rational and logical decisions in a fast-paced environment
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work well within a team
• A strategic and forward thinking mindset.

Having a CII qualification or working towards would be desirable, however it is not essential and it is something we can support you to achieve should you join our organisation.
