The Opportunity

An experienced SME Credit Underwriter is required to join the credit team. This is a hands on role with scope beyond case by case underwriting. It offers the chance to shape credit policy, influence portfolio strategy, and improve risk processes within a fast paced, high growth fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite SME lending applications, delivering sound and commercially balanced decisions
• Apply independent judgement, critical thinking, and commercial awareness to every case
• Work closely with the Head of Credit to review and enhance credit policy and risk appetite frameworks
• Monitor portfolio performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for optimisation
• Support the ongoing development of underwriting processes and decision tools
• Collaborate with commercial, operations, and data teams to ensure scalable and high quality credit risk management

About You

• Proven SME credit underwriting experience, ideally within a fintech, alternative lender, or commercial bank
• Strong commercial awareness and confidence to challenge established processes where appropriate
• Experience of working on wider credit risk matters such as policy development, portfolio reporting, or credit strategy
• Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
• Clear and confident communicator, comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic business
• Collaborative and proactive team player
