Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead estimating and commercial functions across roofing, property services and renewable energy divisions in the UK.

The role reports to the Managing Director and focuses on profitable growth, strategic direction and mentoring QS teams. It combines leadership with hands-on management of projects and commercial controls, operating across East Anglia with a UK-wide client base.

Qualifications

• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or equivalent.
• At least 10 years' experience in estimating, quantity surveying or commercial management within construction or property services.
• Strong experience in roofing, property refurbishment, planned maintenance and capital works.
• Proven experience preparing and pricing tenders for housing associations, local authorities, commercial clients and public-sector organisations.
• Understanding of framework contracting and NEC, JCT and NATFed contract forms.
• Experience in roofing, building refurbishment, property maintenance or decarbonisation projects.
• Strong financial awareness and commercial acumen, with the ability to analyse costs, manage risk and maximise profitability.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Confident using Microsoft Excel and commercial pricing/cost-management systems.
• Full UK driving licence and eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Lead the estimating, quantity surveying and commercial functions across multiple service divisions.
• Drive commercial strategy to improve profitability, financial performance and growth.
• Oversee tender submissions, pricing strategies, cost plans and commercial risk assessments.
• Manage commercial performance across projects, contracts and frameworks.
• Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Ensure effective management of framework agreements and contracts (NEC, JCT, NATFed).
• Develop and mentor estimating/QS teams, promoting accountability and collaboration.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen processes and commercial controls.
• Support business development and future growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with MD and leadership to deliver strategic objectives.
