About the role
Our Rail Business is looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to take the lead on commercial activities across a diverse portfolio of projects within a multi-disciplinary business unit.
This unit delivers Civils, Building, Permanent Way (P-way), and Signalling works throughout London and the Southeast.
As a key member of the regional leadership team, you will collaborate closely with the Programme Director, Finance Manager, and other functional leads to support the successful delivery of an annual turnover of approximately £100 million.
What you'll be doing
The successful candidate will be expected to actively manage key stakeholder relationships to ensure they remain strong and effective. Balfour Beatty Rail maintains well-established partnerships with major clients, including Network Rail, Transport for London, and other internal Balfour Beatty business units.
As the delivery unit Commercial Lead, you will be overseeing a commercial team of circa 20 surveyors for whom you will be providing support and guidance on their job responsibilities.
This role involves ensuring strict adherence to internal governance processes throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, with a focus on delivering projects within budget while optimising profit margins.
You will provide leadership across the entire project journey-from work winning through to delivery-demonstrating a strong grasp of technical challenges, risk and supply chain management, and team leadership.
A key part of the role includes actively managing and developing team members to support their growth and performance.
