Job summary

Kenton Black Limited is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to oversee a major highways infrastructure project in the North West. Based in Penrith, Cumbria, this permanent role offers a salary up to £92,000 plus a company benefits package and a pathway to lead commercial performance and governance on a high-profile scheme.

The role requires NEC contract expertise, strong cost control, and proven ability to manage subcontractors and change.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering or highways.
Strong understanding of NEC contracts.
Experience managing project costs, subcontractors and commercial change.
Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
A commercially driven approach to project delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead the commercial management of project activities, ensuring financial targets and contractual obligations are met.
Manage cost control, forecasting, CVRs and commercial reporting.
Oversee subcontract procurement, payments, variations and final accounts.
Administer NEC contracts and manage change, compensation events and commercial risk.
Identify opportunities to maximise value and protect project profitability.
Work closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors.
Ensure robust commercial governance and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
