Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority is seeking a Senior Commercial Lead to direct procurement strategy across the Professional Services and Integrated Engineering categories, overseeing a portfolio with expenditures exceeding £100 million.

You will drive innovative commercial approaches, governance, and supplier capability, while mentoring Commercial Managers and expanding the capability of the ATEN programme team.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex end-to-end procurements in the public sector.
• Strong knowledge of current public procurement legislation and its practical application.
• Experience developing procurement and commercial strategies at programme or portfolio level.
• Ability to influence and negotiate with senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Dynamic leadership style with experience building high-performing commercial teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead all sourcing and procurement activity across Professional Services and Integrated Engineering categories.
• Develop and implement category and commercial strategies, including the overall strategy and two-year delivery plans for the ATEN programme.
• Design innovative procurement and contracting solutions to enable agile delivery.
• Develop approaches to commercial risk, assurance, governance and regulatory compliance.
• Build commercial intelligence through market and supplier analysis.
• Lead commercial engagement with senior stakeholders, government departments and partner organisations.
• Provide expert advice on complex procurement matters.
• Implement contract-management processes and monitor supplier performance.
• Lead and mentor Commercial Managers and Specialists, including mentoring colleagues pursuing CIPS qualifications.
• Ensure commercial strategies and processes align across UKAEA programmes.
