Coordinates the provision of management services from contract signature and award to completion of projects in various sectors.

Provides comprehensive technical expertise on the administration of building contracts and the issuing of certificates.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the preparation of contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses, and assisting in formal execution by the appropriate parties.
  • Providing comprehensive technical expertise on the administration of the terms of building contracts.
  • Actively measuring and providing valuations of the work carried out and adjusting variations in accordance with the contract terms to agree with the contractor.
  • Utilizing expertise to ensure adequate cost control and reporting services during the contract.
  • Developing financial reports for clients in the required format and frequency.
  • Managing all costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities, and client charges.
  • Overseeing and engaging in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by the contractor and subcontractors/suppliers.
  • Providing expertise on issuing certificates of practical completion and ensuring final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
  • Providing expertise on issuing certificates of making good defects and final completion in accordance with requirements relating to completion, submissions, and approvals.
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement plans and key business improvements.
  • Developing and maintaining internal and external relationships.
  • Managing and influencing key/senior stakeholders.
  • Working collaboratively towards net zero carbon transition, sharing responsibility for proactive management of associated carbon emissions and reductions during project delivery.

You'll need to have:

  • Demonstrable experience of delivering service excellence to clients.
  • Proven experience in commercial management.
  • Understanding of costs, timescales, and risk implications.
  • Experience in risk management and change control management.
  • Knowledge of various contract types.
  • Knowledge of BIM techniques and applications; negotiation skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Digital competence.
  • A degree in quantity surveying, cost management, or equivalent.
  • Detailed knowledge of most contract forms.
  • Knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law, and contractual frameworks.
  • Sector-specific project expertise.
  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications.
  • Knowledge of contractual frameworks and contract administration.
  • Understanding of sustainability, social value, and carbon reduction issues.
  • Awareness of industry best practices.
  • Self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses, seeking learning opportunities.
  • Participation in initiatives like BIM that add value.
  • Commitment to inclusivity.

You'll also have:

  • Capex vs. Opex cost analysis and advice.
  • Professional memberships or progress towards them (e.g., MRICS/RICS).
  • Effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improving practices.
  • Stakeholder management skills.
  • Relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interpersonal skills for report writing, negotiation, and relationship management.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills for resolving cost and contract issues.
  • Advanced communication skills for guiding project teams to meet KPIs.
