Job summary

Hollybank Trustees Ltd is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Technician (Milling) to join a high-precision engineering team in Tadcaster. You will lead CNC milling operations, interpret drawings, and deliver high-quality components.

The role combines production excellence with technical leadership, mentoring junior technicians, driving process improvements, and ensuring on-time delivery through robust manufacturing practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in a machine shop / precision engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience programming, setting, and operating CNC machines.
• Qualifications in engineering (Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC) or equivalent.
• Familiarity with CNC controls such as Heidenhain, Mazatrol, or Ultimax.
• Lean manufacturing / 5S experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate CNC and manual milling machines.
• Interpret technical drawings and perform precise machining operations.
• Ensure equipment calibration, maintenance, and efficient running.
• Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring tools.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and drive machine performance improvements.
• Monitor production to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.
• Complete work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimise processes.
• Mentor junior technicians and support team skill development.
• Lead process improvement initiatives to boost productivity and reduce cycle times.
