Qualifications

• Experience in a machine shop / precision engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience programming, setting, and operating CNC machines.
• Qualifications in engineering (Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC) or equivalent.
• Familiarity with CNC controls such as Heidenhain, Mazatrol, or Ultimax.
• Lean manufacturing / 5S experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate CNC and manual milling machines.
• Interpret technical drawings and perform precise machining operations.
• Ensure equipment calibration, maintenance, and efficient running.
• Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring tools.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and drive machine performance improvements.
• Monitor production to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.
• Complete work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimise processes.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a senior member of the team, you’ll take ownership of both production excellence and technical leadership, including:

• Setting up, programming, and operating CNC and manual milling machines
• Interpreting technical drawings and executing precise machining operations
• Ensuring equipment is calibrated, maintained, and running efficiently
• Conducting quality inspections using precision measuring tools
• Troubleshooting technical issues and driving machine performance improvements
• Monitoring production to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery
• Completing key documentation (work orders, inspection reports, maintenance logs)
• Collaborating with engineering and production teams to optimise processes
• Mentoring junior technicians and supporting team skill development
• Leading process improvements to boost productivity and reduce cycle times

• Expertise working to tight tolerances across various materials (steel, aluminium, etc.)
• Experience programming, setting, and operating CNC machines
• Qualifications in engineering (Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC) or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with controls such as Heidenhain, Mazatrol, or Ultimax
• CAD/CAM knowledge
• Lean manufacturing / 5S experience
• Experience producing bespoke or one-off components
• Crane lifting certification
