Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc in London is seeking a Solution Architect to design and implement robust IT solutions across multi-cloud platforms (AWS, Oracle, Microsoft) and align them with business goals.

You will mentor teams, produce high-level designs, participate in governance, ensure security and compliance, and drive system integration and technology advancement across projects. This role offers significant influence on IT strategy and opportunities to lead major change programs within the company.

Qualifications

• Proficient knowledge of multi-cloud environments (AWS, Oracle, Microsoft).
• Strong enterprise software, hardware and infrastructure familiarity.
• Familiarity with IT security best practices and standards.
• Experience with system integration patterns, APIs, middleware, and data migrations.
• Ability to conduct feasibility assessments and risk analysis.
• Experience in vendor evaluation and technical governance processes.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and clear communication.
• Proven stakeholder engagement across business and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy scalable, secure cloud architectures across AWS, Oracle and Microsoft.
• Produce High Level Designs (HLD) for projects.
• Participate in governance activities including VDD, DPIA, and TDA.
• Aide and influence Work Winning teams on IT elements.
• Integrate enterprise software with existing IT architecture.
• Ensure IT solutions meet security and compliance requirements.
• Provide technical leadership to project teams.
• Identify opportunities for technological advancement and system integration.
• Influence IT strategy and support decision-making within IT department.
• Evaluate new technology solutions for business value.
• Facilitate communication between IT and business units.
• Drive continuous improvement in IT practices.
• Oversee timelines and deliverables alignment with business goals.
• Assess and mitigate risks to architecture and data security.
