Job summary

The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our Digital & Technology team in London. You will lead 3rd-line infrastructure support, drive Cyber Essentials certification efforts, and implement secure, scalable Azure and M365 solutions with emphasis on Defender XDR and Sentinel security controls.

You will collaborate with Technical Architects and the SOC to ensure robust security, compliant configurations, and effective incident response

Qualifications

• Strong 3rd-line infrastructure or cyber security experience in a global organisation.
• Experience working with a managed Security Operations Centre (SOC).
• Experience supporting Windows and macOS in a Microsoft 365 and Azure environment.
• Experience preparing for or maintaining Cyber Essentials (and Cyber Essentials Plus) certification.
• Azure platform management including PaaS, IaaS, VNETs and storage accounts.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools (Exchange Online, Office 365 apps, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint).
• Knowledge of M365 security technologies (Azure Information Protection, DLP, Compliance centres).
• Understanding of vulnerability management, phishing, endpoint protection, and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure & Platform Management: maintain the 3rd line estate, manage Azure and the wider M365 estate.
• Security Operations: liaise with the SOC, monitor alerts using Defender XDR and Sentinel, assist incident triage and root-cause analysis.
• Vulnerability & Patch Management: conduct regular vulnerability assessments and track remediation progress.
• Compliance & Certification: support Cyber Essentials certifications and remediation activities, assist audits.
• Collaboration: work with Technical Architect to design secure, scalable infrastructure solutions and coordinate with IT Service Desk.
• Data Protection & Email Security: assist with email protection, DLP and device monitoring platforms.
• Threat Intelligence & Policy: contribute to threat analysis and security policy development.
• Automation & Documentation: develop PowerShell scripts to automate tasks and maintain documentation.
• Backup & Resilience: manage M365 and Azure backup and disaster recovery arrangements.
