Job summary

Amperon is hiring a Staff Cloud Platform Engineer to own major parts of the Azure and Kubernetes platform for our product, data pipelines and AI agents. You will join a small Infrastructure & Security team, setting direction and leading multi-month programs from design through deployment.

The role is hands-on and senior, with on-call rotation across time zones and opportunities to mentor peers while shaping the next generation of energy forecasting software.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in infrastructure/platform/SRE with senior ownership.
• Led multi-month infrastructure programs end to end: design doc, rollout, cutover, cleanup.
• Deep, hands-on Kubernetes production experience on managed offerings (AKS/EKS/GKE).
• Strong Terraform experience with GitOps workflows (Atlantis, ArgoCD).
• Production cloud experience with Azure preferred; AWS/GCP also acceptable with Azure focus.
• Experience operating relational/analytical databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse).
• Security-first mindset: least privilege, secrets management, network isolation.
• Solid observability practice: metrics, logs, traces (OpenTelemetry).
• Proficient in Python and shell for automation.
• Strong written communication across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Shape our Kubernetes platform and run AKS clusters with modern tooling.
• Lead infrastructure-as-code at scale, upgrades, drift reconciliation and guardrails.
• Ensure data stores are resilient with replication, backup and safe upgrades.
• Build platforms for AI agents with isolated environments and safe deployment paths.
• Advance platform observability with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana and alerting in code.
• Drive cloud cost savings and optimized usage across Azure.
• Share operational load via on-call rotations and incident postmortems.
• Mentor engineers, document systems, and prevent single points of failure.
