Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) seeks a Platform Engineer to build and operate a scalable cloud foundation, delivering secure, self-service capabilities to accelerate scientific experimentation.

You will drive auditable CI/CD pipelines, implement policy-as-code governance, and collaborate with Research and Data teams to support Python notebooks and distributed clusters. A strong focus on automation and reliability is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in platform engineering and automating operational processes.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to introduce and automate structure.
• Expertise with at least one major cloud provider (OCI, AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Proficiency with Terraform for declarative, large-scale infrastructure provisioning.
• Comfortable managing large-scale, resilient Kubernetes clusters.
• Proficiency in at least one major language for system-level tools (e.g. Python, Go, or Java) with some scripting experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and operate the cloud platform, delivering resilient compute, network, and storage including GPU clusters.
• Drive structured, auditable delivery pipelines (CI/CD/GitOps) with automated infrastructure changes.
• Design and deploy Policy-as-Code governance and security controls (Policy-as-Code) to ensure isolation, data protection, and auditability.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and telemetry framework with clear SLOs and future SRE direction.
• Partner with Research and Data teams to build self-service capabilities for diverse workloads.
