Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design and operate a secure, scalable cloud platform. You will build resilient compute, storage, and GPU clusters while accelerating experimentation through robust pipelines and self-service guardrails.

You will work with Research and Data teams to support Python notebooks and distributed workloads, applying Policy-as-Code with Kyverno and Terraform-based automation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in platform engineering and automating operational processes.
• Proactive attitude and drive to automate operational structure.
• Expertise with at least one major cloud provider (OCI, AWS, GCP or Azure).
• Proficiency with Terraform for large-scale infrastructure provisioning.
• Comfortable managing large-scale, resilient Kubernetes clusters.
• Proficiency in Python, Go or Java with some scripting experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and operate the cloud platform with scalable compute, storage, and GPU clusters.
• Implement structured delivery pipelines (CI/CD, GitOps) and enforce automated changes.
• Design and deploy Policy-as-Code governance with Kyverno to ensure isolation and audit readiness.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and telemetry with clear SLOs for robust operations.
• Collaborate with Research and Data teams to support diverse workloads from notebooks to clusters.
