Job summary

Instil in Belfast is seeking experienced Senior Software Engineers who enjoy building scalable systems, cloud-native apps, and delivering production-ready software.

You will design, build, and operate modern software solutions using Java, Python, C#/.NET, and TypeScript, while working with cloud platforms to deliver reliable systems. The role emphasizes ownership, architectural input, and modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development and agentic workflows.

Qualifications

• Strong production experience with Java, Python, C#/.NET, or TypeScript.
• Solid cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Understanding of system design, distributed systems, and scalable architectures.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs and event-driven systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain software solutions using Java, Python, C#/.NET and/or TypeScript.
• Develop cloud-native applications across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Contribute to system architecture and make key technical decisions.
• Build and integrate APIs, event-driven systems, and distributed applications.
• Collaborate with platform teams to ensure reliable, scalable deployments.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and improve engineering workflows.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows to improve productivity and software quality.
• Identify opportunities to automate routine engineering tasks through intelligent tooling and AI.
• Troubleshoot issues across application and infrastructure layers.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready software.
