Job summary

Open LMS is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and operate a multi-tenant SaaS hosting platform on AWS. You’ll own Terraform-based infra, Puppet fleet management, and Python tooling, working with a Linux-based stack (Ubuntu) and a distributed services model.

You’ll help evolve the platform with a focus on reliability, observability, and scalable storage while integrating with internal teams and incident response processes.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with AWS services in production - EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, Lambda, ALB, ElastiCache, Route 53, IAM, VPC networking.
• Proficient in authoring Terraform modules for production infrastructure.
• Proficient in authoring Puppet modules (or equivalent) for fleet management.
• Solid Python skills with production daemons, not just scripts.
• Deep Linux systems knowledge (Ubuntu), Apache/Nginx, PHP-FPM, Varnish, systemd, mounts, networking.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
• Write and maintain Puppet modules for fleets of EC2 instances.
• Maintain Python-based automation and tooling for platform operations.
• Operate and improve distributed service discovery and configuration (etcd).
• Manage and tune multi-tier caching (Varnish, Redis/Valkey, OPcache).
• Run and scale observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Fluentd) and participate in on-call rotations.
• Evaluate and implement distributed storage solutions for platform evolution.
• Improve deployment workflows and release processes.
• Collaborate on API contracts, integration patterns, and toolchains.
• Participate in incident response and platform reliability improvements.
