Job summary

The Mendeley Infrastructure team at Elsevier Inc. designs, operates, and continually improves cloud infrastructure powering Mendeley for researchers globally.

You’ll work with AWS-based environments, automation, and IaC to build reliable, secure systems across multiple environments. As a Systems Engineer, you will contribute to the design, operation, and improvement of cloud-based enterprise environments, collaborating with development, support, and platform teams to deliver high-quality

Qualifications

• Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
• Linux administration and scripting skills (Bash, Python).
• Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (New Relic).
• Knowledge of change and incident management processes.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and implementation of cloud infrastructure within guidelines.
• Respond to system management alerts and operational anomalies, escalate as needed.
• Advocate and apply infrastructure best practices within the team.
• Contribute to scripts, automation, and IaC development.
• Participate in change management, ensuring documentation, tests, and execution.
• Collaborate with development, support, and platform teams.
• Assist in daily support of systems through proactive monitoring and issue detection.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain cloud infrastructure across environments.
