Job summary

SR2 REC LTD is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer (GCP) to assess and design an enterprise Google Cloud Platform environment. You will work with the Lead Cloud Architect to validate architecture, develop proofs of concept, and ensure a secure, scalable target state.

You will design IaC using Terraform and Google Cloud Fabric, review policies, and support CI/CD automation with GitHub Actions, while addressing risk and governance considerations.

Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise GCP environments and landing-zones.
• Experience with IAM, organisation policies and Security Command Center.
• Hands-on Terraform / IaC implementation for cloud estates.
• Knowledge of Google Cloud Fabric or similar landing-zone frameworks.
• CI/CD experience, ideally with GitHub Actions.
• Experience delivering enterprise GCP landing zones.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing GCP organisation, projects, IAM, security controls and platform configuration.
• Provide input into target GCP landing zone and governance model.
• Review policies, governance and access-control approaches.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to provide technical expertise during the assessment and design of an enterprise Google Cloud Platform environment.

Working closely with the Lead Cloud Architect, the role will assess the existing GCP estate, validate architectural decisions and develop technical proof-of-concepts to ensure the proposed target state is secure, scalable and implementable.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the existing GCP organisation, projects, IAM, security controls and platform configuration.
• Provide technical input into the target GCP landing zone and governance model.
• Review and validate organisation policies, project governance and access-control approaches.
• Assess audit logging, Security Command Center and cloud security controls.
• Develop technical proof-of-concepts for landing zone, project vending and governance capabilities.
• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Google Cloud Fabric.
• Support CI/CD automation using tooling such as GitHub Actions.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies and implementation considerations.
• Ensure proposed architecture aligns with Google Cloud engineering and security best practice.
• Support transition planning and provide implementation recommendations.

Essential experience

• Strong enterprise Google Cloud Platform engineering experience.
• GCP organisation and project administration at scale.
• Strong experience with IAM, organisation policies, audit logging and Security Command Center.
• Advanced Terraform / Infrastructure as Code capability.
• Experience with Google Cloud Fabric or comparable landing-zone frameworks.
• CI/CD experience, ideally using GitHub Actions.
• Experience delivering or implementing enterprise GCP landing zones.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, governance and platform engineering practices.
• Experience within UK government, public sector or similarly regulated environments.
