Job summary

SR2 REC LTD is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to help design a future-state Google Cloud Platform environment for government sectors in the United Kingdom. The role focuses on GCP with openness to AWS engineers who want to deepen GCP expertise.

You will collaborate with the Lead Cloud Architect to validate landing zone, governance and security models, assess current GCP estates, and drive IaC development using Terraform alongside CI/CD workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering complex cloud environments.
• Understanding governance, IAM, and security in cloud environments.
• Ability to assess landing zones and architecture for cloud deployments.

Responsibilities

• Assess the existing GCP estate, architecture, and engineering practices.
• Review GCP organisation administration, project governance, resource hierarchies and IAM controls.
• Evaluate cloud security capabilities, audit logging and monitoring (GCP SCC).
• Validate the technical feasibility of the landing zone, security architecture and governance model.
• Identify implementation risks, dependencies and remediation priorities.
• Develop proof-of-concepts for the target landing zone and project-vending approach.
• Design and review Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, with opportunities to gain experience in Google Cloud Fabric.
• Support CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions or comparable tools.

Senior Cloud Engineer - GCP / AWS - SC Cleared

We are recruiting a Senior Cloud Engineer to support the discovery and design of a future-state Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment within central government.

Whilst this is a GCP-focused engagement, we are open to experienced AWS Cloud Engineers who have a foundational understanding of GCP and are keen to develop their expertise further. The role offers an opportunity to apply existing enterprise cloud engineering skills within a GCP environment, with scope to cross-train and build deeper platform-specific experience.

You will work closely with the Lead Cloud Architect to assess the existing environment, validate architectural decisions and ensure the proposed landing zone, governance and security models can be implemented effectively.

We are particularly interested in engineers who have delivered complex cloud environments, understand enterprise-scale platform engineering and can transfer their knowledge across cloud providers.
