Job summary

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust’s Breast Research team invites applications for a Band 6 Senior Clinical Trial Coordinator on a 15-month fixed-term secondment ending 28 January 2028. This role offers exposure to a world-leading breast cancer portfolio, with responsibility for trial set-up, delivery and oversight.

You will support and supervise other research staff, coordinate trials in line with GCP and Trust SOPs, and represent the unit at key meetings. Flexible working may be discussed.

Qualifications

• Strong clinical trials experience and ability to manage multiple trials.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Experience supporting and supervising research staff is desirable.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Breast Research team at The Royal Marsden as a Band 6 Senior Clinical Trial Coordinator on a 15-month fixed-term secondment, ending 28 January 2028.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Clinical Trial Coordinator looking to take the next step in their career, working across a world-leading and practice-changing breast cancer clinical research portfolio. The role offers broad experience across trial set‑up, delivery and oversight, alongside opportunities to support and supervise other research staff and contribute to the development of the unit.

We’re looking for someone with strong clinical trials experience, excellent organisational and communication skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for delivering high-quality cancer research.

While the post is currently offered for 15 months, there may be scope to discuss opportunities beyond the initial contract period towards the end of the fixed term, depending on portfolio growth, organisational structure and service requirements at that time.

The primary purpose of the Senior Trial Coordinator post in the breast clinical research unit is to:

• Take responsibility for ensuring clinical trials within the unit are conducted and managed in accordance

with Good Clinical Practice and Trust SOPs

• Be responsible for conveying the requirements of the Clinical R&D Office to clinical staff within their

allocated Clinical Unit

• Provide an efficient clinical trial coordination service to the unit, ensuring trials fulfil all statutory

Requirements

• Oversee the conduct of trials within the unit and maintain day to day responsibility for specific trials

within the Unit

• Represent the unit at key meeting and deputise for the Research Operations Manager as required
• Oversee and line manage other research staff (Clinical Trial Administrators & Clinical Trial Coordinators). Line management dependant on experience.
