Salary: Band 8A £53,755 - £60,504 per annum DOE

MAIN PURPOSE

To work as part of a multi/interdisciplinary team, providing clinical psychology and neuropsychology input within the BIRT neurobehavioural model to service users with acquired brain injury. You will lead in ensuring the neurobehavioural model of rehabilitation is delivered through multi/interdisciplinary working. You will consult with internal and external professionals, family members and service users. You will engage in relevant research and advise other professionals as appropriate.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To provide specialist psychological assessment and neuropsychological assessment of adults with acquired brain injury referred to BIRT and related services, utilising and interpreting information from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, family members and others involved in the service user’s care.
  2. To complete pre-admission assessments, highly developing specialist, collaborative and holistic neurobehavioural formulations of an individual’s rehabilitation needs, including the development of SMART goals.
  3. To coordinate Service User’s care as appropriate and agreed with your supervisor, in the role of keyworker/clinical lead.
  4. To be responsible for relevant data collection on work activities, as required.
  5. To formulate and implement plans of highly specialist psychological and/or neuropsychological intervention to support the neurobehavioural rehabilitation of adults with acquired brain injury as part of the multi/interdisciplinary team, based on current evidence-based best practice.
  6. To elicit personal goals from service users and translate this to specific, measurable, achievable, relevant timed SMART goals with the team.
  7. To undertake a range of psychological therapeutic and rehabilitation interventions, drawing on a range of psychological models and employing a range of modalities (individual, family, group) adapted and tailored to the needs of the individual and the context and ongoing evaluation of the outcomes of the intervention.
  8. To be responsible for providing a specialist psychological perspective in the multi/interdisciplinary assessment of service users and their families. You will highly contribute specialist psychological and neuropsychological advice to the multi/interdisciplinary formulation of appropriate therapeutic approaches or intervention plans, and to be involved in, or oversee specialist psychological aspects of their implementation in collaborations with other staff.
  9. To undertake psychologically based risk assessment and risk management for relevant clients and provide advice on the psychological aspects of risk to the multi/interdisciplinary team.
  10. To consult with and provide specialist psychological guidance to carers and families of service users.
  11. To exercise autonomous professional judgement and responsibility for the psychological management of service users on own caseload.
  12. To participate in regular on-call support for the Unit on a rota basis.
  13. To demonstrate a duty of care to equipment and resources supplied by Brainkind.

About You

  1. Degree in Psychology accepted by BPS for Graduate Basis Registration (GBR) or equivalent.
  2. Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (BPS accredited) or its equivalent to meet requirements to register as a practitioner psychologist with the HCPC.
  3. Registered with the HCPC.
  4. Demonstrate an interest in clinical neuropsychology.
  5. General knowledge of acquired brain injury pathology, neuroanatomy, symptoms, characteristics, course of recovery and rehabilitation approaches.
  6. Relevant experience in producing clinical reports.
  7. At least 2 years’ experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist in a relevant clinical area.
  8. Working within a multi/interdisciplinary team, supporting team processing and promoting psychological thinking within team formulations and goal setting.
