Job summary

Qualifications

• Undertake tasks to support the Learning Disability Service (Children), with monitoring of impact and communication of risks to patient care.
• Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing to clients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment.
• Ensure MDTs have access to a psychologically based framework for understanding and care through advice, consultation and dissemination of research.
• Communicate assessments, formulations and treatment plans in a skilled and sensitive manner and monitor progress in uni- and multidisciplinary care.
• Provide expertise, advice and support to facilitate effective psychological care by all members of the treatment team.

Responsibilities

• To undertake appropriate tasks to support the Learning Disability Service (Children), as agreed with Operational Lead and Consultant Clinical Psychologist. To monitor the impact of such work on case and workload, communicating any associated risks to patient care to operational and/or professional leads.
• To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
• To ensure that all members of the multidisciplinary team(s) have access to a psychologically based framework for understanding and care of clients of the service through the provision of advice and consultation and the dissemination of psychological research and theory.
• To communicate, in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of both uni- and multidisciplinary care.
• To provide expertise, advice and support to facilitate the effective and appropriate provision of psychological care by all members of the treatment team.
