There is a dedicated Children's Ambulatory Unit admitting children requiring care beyond the 4-hour window, and there is a separate Paediatric Day Care Unit co-located with the paediatric ward. The hospital also has a well-established Hospital at Home service with plans to expand this across the sector.
The Paediatric Emergency Department sees children requiring both Emergency and Urgent Care and this post would therefore be an excellent opportunity for applicants wishing to develop skills in Paediatric Emergency Medicine and Minor Injuries. Both the Paediatric Department and the Emergency Department have well-established excellent teaching programmes and the applicant will be encouraged to engage in relevant training. The Whittington Hospital is also a registered PERUKI site and there will be opportunities to be involved in research in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
