Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Cardiology

This is a fixed-term post that will provide the postholder with exposure to a wide range of paediatric cardiology. There is a possibility of extension depending on staffing levels and the incumbent's career needs. The postholder will gain experience in all areas of Paediatric Cardiology, with most of their time dedicated to participating in the clinical service.

Main duties of the job

The main objectives of this post are:

  • Contribute to the inpatient treatment of patients with congenital heart disease
  • Provide clinical support alongside other registrars/fellows in outpatient clinics
  • Participate in clinical and service activities to ensure high standards of patient care
  • Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training

Evelina London Children's Hospital (ELCH) is the second-largest provider of acute children's services in London. We offer secondary acute services to the local area and a comprehensive portfolio of tertiary services, accepting referrals from other healthcare organisations across south London and south east England. We also provide specialist and universal children's community services within Lambeth and Southwark. Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice (or evidence of eligibility)
  • MRCP or MRCPCH (or equivalent)
  • For NP5 salary point: At least 7 years' experience in clinical/academic medicine or post-CCT
Clinical Experience & Skills
  • At least 6 months experience in paediatric cardiology
  • Demonstrable experience in congenital echocardiography
  • EACVI accreditation in congenital heart disease
  • At least 6 months experience in general paediatrics or neonatal medicine at registrar/fellow level
Research & Teaching
  • Experience teaching junior medical staff and allied health professionals
  • Audit, presentations, and local teaching in paediatric cardiology topics
  • Formal training in teaching methodologies
  • Peer-reviewed publications or presentations at a national level in paediatric cardiology
Non-clinical Skills, Leadership & Management
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Responsibility for planning and executing own work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Awareness of equal opportunities issues in healthcare and education
  • Evidence of career progression and medium-term goals
Good Medical Practice
  • Understanding and adherence to GMC principles of Good Medical Practice
