Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Cardiology

The closing date is 22 June 2025

This is a fixed-term post offering the postholder exposure to a wide range of paediatric cardiology. There is a possibility of extension depending on staffing levels and career needs. The postholder will gain experience in all areas of Paediatric Cardiology, primarily participating in clinical service activities.

Main duties of the job

The main objectives of this post are:

1. Contribute to inpatient treatment of patients with congenital heart disease.
2. Support outpatient clinics alongside other registrars/fellows.
3. Participate in clinical and service activities to ensure high standards of patient care.
4. Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.

Person Specification

Qualifications / Training

• Full GMC Registration with a license to practice (or evidence of eligibility).
• MRCP or MRCPCH (or equivalent).
• For NP5 salary point: At least 7 years' experience in clinical/academic medicine OR post-CCT.

Clinical Experience & Skills

• Minimum 6 months experience in paediatric cardiology.
• Experience in congenital echocardiography.
• EACVI accreditation in congenital heart disease.
• At least 6 months experience in general paediatrics or neonatal medicine at registrar/fellow level.

Research & Teaching

• Experience teaching junior medical staff and allied health professionals.
• Participation in audits, presentations, or local teaching related to paediatric cardiology.
• Formal training in teaching methodologies.
• Peer-reviewed publications or presentations at a national level in paediatric cardiology topics.

Non-clinical skills, leadership & management

• Effective teamworking skills.
• Ability to plan and undertake own work responsibly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
